Position title | Group CFO
Our client is a purpose-driven circular-economy group headquartered in Belgium, with several subsidiaries across the EU. The organization focuses on collection, sorting, repurposing and recycling of regulated material streams, combining a long-standing track record with operational excellence, compliance and positive environmental impact.
The Group CFO is a core member of the Management Team and safeguards the Group’s financial health, strategic planning and governance across all entities. The CFO reports to the Group CEO for group topics and collaborates with the CEOs of the parent and subsidiaries on their respective scopes.
The role of Group CFO
As Group CFO you co-define group strategy, ensure robust financial structures for sustainable growth and lead the finance organization. You orchestrate planning, forecasting, consolidation, funding and compliance in a multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction context and provide decision support to the Board, CEO’s and MT while promoting a culture of trust, collaboration and excellence.
Your Responsibilities:
- Governance & Executive Leadership: act as core MT member. Align financial strategy with Group objectives, support decisions and growth initiatives across entities
- Strategic FP&A: own financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting; deliver actionable insights for each subsidiary
- Financing & Capital Structure: lead financing strategy, credit facilities and investor relations; apply financial engineering to optimize capital allocation
- Team Leadership: build and mentor a high-performing Finance team, foster trust, accountability and excellence. Directly lead the central Finance team and provide functional leadership to the Finance responsibles of the subsidiaries (matrix setup)
- Subsidiary Stewardship & Consolidation: support and align finance across subsidiaries, ensure seamless integration, intercompany flows and consolidated reporting
- Reporting & Compliance: deliver timely, accurate consolidated statements (IFRS/Belgian GAAP as relevant), ensure strong controls, manage audits and regulatory compliance
- CSRD / Non-Financial Reporting: own the CSRD/ESRS roadmap with Sustainability & Legal; integrate non-financial KPIs into Group reporting and ensure assurance readiness
- EU Regulation : translate evolving EU legislation into financial processes
- Treasury & Risk: Lead treasury, cash pooling, FX/commodity hedging, liquidity buffers and insurance coverage
- Internal Control & Audit: design a Group Internal Control Framework, run internal audits and oversee external audit coordination
- ERP/BI & Data Governance: sponsor ERP, consolidation and BI system roadmaps, ensure master data discipline and automation of closing/reporting
- Capex & Procurement Governance: chair investment committees. Enforce capex discipline and drive procurement efficiency
- Performance Management: establish unit economics, cost-to-serve analytics and working capital KPIs
- M&A/JV Finance: lead financial due diligence, structuring and post-deal integration of acquisitions or joint ventures
- Stakeholder Management: engage with regulators, auditors, banks, PRO networks, Joint Venture partners and the Board
Your profile
- Financial engineering expertise, experience structuring complex deals and optimizing capital structures
- Multi-entity consolidation track record with subsidiaries and intercompany flows
- Comfortable managing a portfolio of various entities
- Languages: fluent Dutch, French and English (mandatory)
- Strategic leadership: provides steadiness, depth and risk-managed growth alongside visionary leadership
- Integrity & trust: principled, reliable and transparent. Inspires confidence with CEO’s and Board.
- Sustainability mindset: affinity with the Group’s environmental mission
- Collaboration & EQ: high emotional intelligence, strong stakeholder management and communication
- Analytical, structured, composed: hands-on when needed in a fast-moving, complex setting
- Treasury, tax and transfer pricing experience in multi-country groups
- Systems mindset: ERP/consolidation/BI sponsorship and automation affinity
- M&A fluency in Joint Ventures, carve-outs and post-merger integration
