The use of mobile energy from batteries has become an essential part of everyone’s life. Batteries are changing the world we live in, from tiny batteries in smart watches to huge batteries powering electric vehicles. Our client, EUCOBAT, is the European association of national collection schemes for waste batteries. We work for a better environment by collecting ever more used batteries and by re-using or recycling them ever better. EUCOBAT represents the battery collection schemes towards the EU, industry and consumer stakeholder organisations and helps its members organize the collection, re-use and recycling of waste batteries as easily and efficiently as possible. EUCOBAT was founded in 2011 and now counts 26 members in 21 countries across Europe.

For our client we seek an experienced Relations and Development Director, who will be responsible for overseeing the smooth day-to-day operations of our office, ensuring a productive and efficient work environment. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining a positive culture, managing administrative tasks, and specific projects, and supporting the various Working Groups.

The Relations and Development Director has an excellent track record and experience in organizational tasks, preferably in federation/government/lobby environment & has experience with (international stake holder management. The ideal candidate  excels in administration and punctuality, has strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. Well-developed communication and interpersonal abilities are key.

In the position of Relations and Development Director, you report directly to the Secretary General. The offices are located in Brussels, Belgium.

Your profile

  • You have at least a university master’s degree
  • You gained minimum 5 years of related working experience
  • You have genuine passion for environment and circular economy
  • You have strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • You have the ability to work closely within a small team
  • You can work successfully cross border and with various cultures
  • You have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • You have sense of responsibility and ability to take ownership
  • You have strong analytical, and writing skills
  • You have vast experience using Microsoft Office
  • You are fluent in English (strong written and oral communication skills), which is mandatory. Any other European language skill is an asset (Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, …)

 

Extra valuable qualifications

  • Experience working for one of the EU institutions, a compliance organization, a battery manufacturer, collector, or recycler, a public affairs consultancy, or a Brussels-based trade association.
  • Understanding of extended producer responsibility, batteries, battery collection, battery recycling and re-use.

The role

Daily management of the office:

 

  • Ensuring effective coordination and communication with EU members and stakeholders
  • Create and maintain cloud platforms to facilitate communication within the association
  • Support Board and General Assembly meetings
  • Ensure pre-reads are circulated in a timely manner to facilitate Board and GA decisions
  • Collaborate with association staff, members and experts
  • Ensure a productive and efficient work environment for all parties involved
  • Support in Public Affairs and communications programs
  • Support the realization of EUCOBAT’s objectives
  • Support in EUCOBAT’s visibility and for EUCOBAT’s positions among stakeholders
  • Organizing internal and external (international) events
  • Managing the communication for these events
  • Involvement in various projects, managing and ensuring administrative stability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement constant improvements of functionality
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, expenses, and office-related contracts
